Summer!

Early summer heat
Unwanted guest!
No breeze through open windows;
Stunted arid lawns,
Brown tipped grass,
Leaves curl and drop;
Birdbath is empty…
Under the tree Stillness
Hot heavy air!
Fans monotonously hum;
But bring no relief…
Summer returns!
